Health & Safety Specialist

Job Summary

Health and Safety Specialists are responsible for identifying hazards in the workplace, inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, oversees and trains on compliance with corporate & government health, safety standards, & regulations, design & implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions, Investigate accidents and incidents to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future, conduct training on a variety of safety topics, coaching and educating all Flynn Employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the safety requirements of operational construction sites and equipment.

  • Conduct safety evaluations of Flynn project sites using documentation and standardized processes.

  • Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to required safety standards

  • Identifying potential risks and safety hazards during a project through involvement throughout the job life cycle.

  • Perform accident and incident investigations as per the company's health and safety programs.

  • Maintain a conducive working relationship with management, PM's, Superintendents, and field through education and giving practical on-site application options.

  • Assist with the communication and implementation of the companies claims management and return to work program.
    Assist with the communication and development of the safety programs.

  • Conduct new worker safety orientations and other required training programs as needed.
    Attend and facilitate monthly safety committee meetings required.

  • Site visits for safety audits and to be a resource to the field team

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English Required

  • BS in Safety and Health or equivalent relevant experience is a plus

  • OSHA 30, OSHA 501/502, Train the Trainer, or willing to become certified.

  • 5
    years experience in a safety role with a commercial roofing company preferred and/or construction

  • Safety knowledge in Working at Heights, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, GHS/Haz Com, and other OSHA regulations

  • Ability to be on roofs (not afraid of heights) and climb ladders

  • Computer literate (Microsoft applications).

  • Training and performing presentation frequently are an asset

  • Self-motivated and willingness to learn

  • Valid driver's license required and a clean MVR (motor vehicle record)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
