Duties include, but are not limited to:
Present to leadership the resources necessary for accomplishing the mission and function of the facility's Credentialing & Privileging (C&P) program. Establish short and long-term priorities. Ensure positions are appropriately manned to cover all program functions. Resolve issues and complaints from employees. Recommend more serious disciplinary actions to higher level supervisors. Primary consultant for the facility's C&P program by; analyzing program audit results, interpreting facility quarterly report card data, researching provider credentialing requirements, identifying potential privileging issues; drafting facility Medical Staff Bylaws updates and revisions. Monitor the VAMC C&P program utilizing VetPro reports, mandatory auditing and reporting tools. Validate processes that are working efficiently and according to plan to identify dysfunctional process issues as early as possible during the implementation phase. Perform reporting and data monitoring in the following areas; initial and ongoing credentialers' training and education; Our Providers' database certifications; VetPro quarterly reports; telehealth provider tracking system; Facility's quarterly C&P report cards; VetPro Security and Privacy compliance; State Licensing Board Reporting SharePoint, C&P federal archive in accordance with VHA System of Records policy. Serve as the administrator for the Federation of Medical Boards. Ensure information accuracy and takes corrective actions. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. The Health System Specialist Series, 0671, has an Individual Occupational Requirement that must be met in addition to the Minimum Qualifications for this series. Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Specialized
Experience:
Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. Special Provision for In-service Placement:
A formal individual training plan must be provided to verify successful completion of the training program. Successful completion of an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program may be substituted for qualifying experience, provided it included a formal individualized training plan. Such a training program must have been conducted in an operating health care system and included:
Assignments providing a knowledge of basic health system administration philosophies, practices, and procedures, and basic government administrative policies and requirements; Practical assignments providing an opportunity to apply health system administration skills and principles (as the individual progresses, work assignments must be characteristic of the grade level to which he or she is assigned); and Oversight by an experienced health system administrator with periodic evaluation of the individual's progress and appropriate adjustment of the training program. Minimum Qualifications You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
analyzing data from credentialing software to improve the credentialing and privileging process for the hospital, assisting in the development of standards from knowledge of governing regulations, determining final decisions on credentialing applications, monitoring overall employee performance according to standards, and utilizing credentialing software; such as VetPro and the National Practitioner Data Bank. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
