Program Support Assistant

Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but may not be limited to:
Operates agency telephone system to receive and connect incoming and outgoing calls. Monitor and respond to all alarms contained within the Office Operations area to include but not limited to Fire, Blood Bank, Generator, Elevator, Bathrooms, Cryo Freezers, Nuclear Reactor as well as respond to Code Blue, RRT, etc. Maintain and update facility telephone directory, insuring that entries are processed in a timely manner. Operates the installation paging system. Regularly handles a variety of difficult calls requiring personal involvement on the part of the employee, such as threatening, abusive, or distraught callers. Responsible for maintenance of the master locator file which is the file of all patients treated at this facility. Record analysis requires technical knowledge of the complex processes involved including but not limited. to legal, ethical, patient care, quality assurance, and reimbursement issues. Employee frequently must interview callers to determine where to route the call Work Schedule:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Customer service; general clerical and administrative duties; answering phones; preparing correspondence; compiling reports; maintaining files; managing and maintaining databases. OR, Education:
(TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR, Combination:
(TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

The work is usually sedentary but may involve some standing and walking to consult directories and manuals. May be required to carry 10-15 or more pounds of records for a short distance. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
