Basic Functions: Performs full charge bookkeeping/accounting for several centers of operation in the Corps Accounting Center. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:
Perform routine processing of revenues (receipts), accounts payable and contributions.
Perform monthly closings; prepare and submit reports to the Corps Accounting Supervisor for review by the 15th of the following month.
Submit monthly reports to the Corps Officers.
Do monthly bank reconciliations and make adjustments as necessary.
Perform analysis of various ledgers and reports as required by Corps Officers and Divisional Headquarters.
Review reports, reconciliations, budget variances and financial trends with Corps Accounting Supervisor, Corps Officers or Divisional Headquarters Officers as needed.
Prepare annual closing entries and reports.
Assist Internal Auditor with audit preparations as needed.
Assist Budget Specialist with budget preparations as needed and enter budget information in accounting system.
Work closely with Corps Officer/Corps Contact providing special analysis and understanding of a corps' accounting system as needed.
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and Salvation Army Accounting processes and procedures.
Process payroll to be entered into accounting system.
Prepare Officer's allowance reports and submit to General Fund A/P Clerk.
Move all monthly files from the network drive to the data storage system.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Demonstrate ability as a team-builder and able to maintain confidentiality.

Must be highly organized, detail-oriented (accuracy) self-starter able to meet deadlines.
Strong Communication skills are necessary.
Willingness to promote and work in accordance with The Salvation Army's mission, vision and values, with particular regard to excellence of service.
Must pass all applicable background checks.
Computer/Program Skills: General computer knowledge is required to access time payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
Education &
Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and one to two years experience or equivalent.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
