Technical Services Manager

I.POSITION PURPOSE:
Manage and coordinate process improvement activities through direct staff and by influencing Operations.
Manages process/equipment team to maintain and develop production processes
Plans, develops, enhances and maintains a Quality Management System that provides continuous improvement to all products manufactured by the organization in order to meet or exceed customer specifications.
Implement, advance and manage the AGCO Production System (APS) in the operation applying Lean Manufacturing and Lean Office methods both on the shop floor and in the office

III.FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:
The requirements of the job for knowledge of functional work and activities in reference to technical expertise not business functions. What knowledge does the job holder need to have to be successful / competent in this job? Does the job holder follow basic instructions and standardized work routines? Does the job holder require specialized skill in a single area or multiple areas or does it require the job holder to be specialized and proficient and have a broad understanding of multiple sub-functions or functions. Is the role task driven/ procedural or is there a requirement to consider the application of principles and/or theory and practice ?
Describe the level of knowledge of function work and activities required to fulfill the role.
Strong technical, process focused resource with a deep understanding in the development and optimization of tooling and equipment.
Must have the capacity to conceptualize new processes/ways of working and the project management skills to lead in the detailed development of them
Detailed knowledge of continuous improvement techniques (Lean Production, Lean Office, 6 sigma, Process Improvement, Ideas program) and the manufacturing systems within AGCO, within the industry and across industries
Very good knowledge of project management methods and leading teams
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (assembly and machining), material logistics, manufacturing engineering and quality as well as good understanding of the interface with other support function processes
Strong ability to impart knowledge; strong communication skills and persuasiveness. Ability to make drive change, to convince employees and to successfully implement projects
Strong skill level in financial analysis
Strong Knowledge of the basics of Quality Assurance/Control practices as well as mid level SPC.
IV.BUSINESS EXPERTISE:
Describe the level of knowledge and expertise about the business required to be successful / competent in this job (i.e., basic knowledge of the area, understanding of more than one area / sub-function, comprehensive understanding of the business, complete understanding of the industry and other industries, job holder must be recognized outside the company for their knowledge/experience, etc.)
Equipment, tooling and process manufacturing experience. In-depth knowledge of Engineering documentation and Quality Management systems. Comprehensive experience and knowledge of Product Manufacturing, Design, and Engineering in metal industry.
Knowledge of the operational processes, in particular of the entire manufacturing process, the material logistics process and the quality function.
Knowledge of support functions, department and business processes to identify key people and stakeholders to involve them in improvement projects
Knowledge of operational cost structures, production controlling and product cost is required
V.LEADERSHIP/PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

Manages technical individuals in the fields of Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Continous Improvment Will be responsible for departmental budgets, capitol expendature budget for facilitiy and much of the discrestionary spend for the facility.
Responsible to support the sites in completing their Capital Plan.
Leading and coordinating employees with special emphasis on conflict management, assertiveness and change management. Ability to identify people's strengths and improve weaknesses in order to get the best performance of individuals and excellent team results.
Setting up and coordinating project teams consisting of employees from multiples levels shop floor thorugh upper managment.
Promotion of team spirit and lean mindset development while providing coaching to various levels of employees
Strong ability to persuede and influnce other groups to facilitiate site and company success.
VI.PROBLEM SOLVING:
What type of problems does the job holder resolve? Are the problems routine and recurring, are problems standardized and resolved through clearly defined policies and procedures, or does resolution require analytical thought utilizing multiple sources of data/input? Does problem solving require abstract thought process to evaluate, analyze and recommend alternative solutions?
Must be able to manage a high degree of complex and continuously changing information and situations.
Must be very well organized, disciplined and thorough in his or her work.
Tasks need to be prioritized and scheduled, good time management and proactive work flow planning are essential.
Building a consensus and obtaining buy-in from key stakeholders is essential
Must be capable of analyzing problems and of developing, communicating and implementing solutions.
Strong analytical skills, cross functional experience, good judgment and very good business knowledge (e.g. cost-benefit analysis).
Must have strong experience in Industrial equipment troubleshooting and Preventative Maintenance programs
Problem solving skills must include Problem Solving disciplines of 5 why, A3, 8D and may include experience with Six Sigma,
Must have experience with Lean Manufacturing Continuous improvement tools and Kaizen Events
Problem solving skills may include experience with: Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and Process/Design Failure
VII.NATURE OF IMPACT
What type of impact does the job have? Does the job holder impact decisions? If so, does the job holder have the authority to make decisions or do they have an indirect impact on decisions? Does the job have an impact on end results?
Has the responsibility to create / control approved list for site equipment purchases. Owns aligning the technology roadmap for future equipment purchases with site and rest of the organization.
Team members will be part of NPI (New Product Implementation) process. Responsibilities include: Design for Mfg, Preliminary Routing Standards/Costing, Support systems engineering team in doing a capacity study.
By increasing operational efficiency and eliminating non-value-adding activities, the Technical Manager makes a significant contribution to the improvement of the manufacturing and support functions key performance indicators (labor efficiency, equipment throughput, safety and material costs) and thus the key performance indicators of the company including key financial indicators (ROIC).
Directly responsible for driving quality improvements to all parts of Manufacturing.

This position has a strong impact on the overall site performance and supports achievement of the Regional and Global performance of GSI/AGCO.
The Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring a manufacturing system is successfully operating in the site, and within the AGCO group through cross-site projects within his or her area of responsibility.

The Technical Manager must employ standard project management methods and retain a calm and professional manner in communication and problem solving.
The Technical Manager must be able to collaborate closely with other functions and convince others without having disciplinary authority to instruct.
The Technical Manager must be a good listener and communicator and be able to listen to other's opinions and convey key points to a group. Must be able to give and receive constructive criticism.
The Technical Manager will deal with leadership groups form other sites and departments. Will also deal directly with outside vendor /suppliers.
The Technical Manager will be managing a group of experts / (university degree in different areas mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or others)
X.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
Indicate the qualifications and number of years experience required, including areas that are industry specific, education, technical, software etc.
Bachelor of Science Degree in a major field of science, engineering, or technology required. Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent required.
Five years equipment, tooling and process manufacturing experience
Five years of management of employees
Four years direct experience with a quality function and/or quality related responsibilities.
Four years' experience in the automotive or agricultural equipment manufacturing industries preferred
Direct experience in team facilitation, and group leadership required
In-depth knowledge of Engineering documentation and Quality Management Systems
Comprehensive experience and knowledge of Product Manufacturing, Design, and Engineering in metal industry
Proven ability to oversee / manage multiple complex projects
Have the capacity to convert functional process specifications into pilot and industrialized equipment to meet needs
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T / GPS) indepth knowledge (preferred)
Effective oral and written English communication skills (2nd language preferred)
Advanced knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and Lean Office techniques and methods.
Six Sigma experience preferred
