POSITIONPURPOSE:


Thisposition contributes to the Missionand Vision of Alegent Health by serving as a designated functional lead withoversight of the day to day activities of their operations and teammembers. Provides management support toplan, organize and lead resources with assigned team members; as well asfunctioning as an individual contributor within the area of responsibility.Participates in operationalizing Alegent Health Strategic Initiatives andPriorities. Serves as a role model forethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding ofpositive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision, Pledge and Commitments ofAlegent Health.


ENVIRONMENT:


Alegent Health is a not-for-profit umbrellacorporation providing governance, administrative management and direction toall operations of Bergan Mercy Health System (sponsored by Catholic HealthInitiatives) and Immanuel Medical Center (Immanuel Health Systems). These two health systems have consolidatedoperations while maintaining separate religious identities, financial assetsand medical staffs.


Consolidatedoperations include five acute-care metropolitan hospitals located in theOmaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area; three rural hospitals located inMissouri Valley and Corning, Iowa and in Schuyler, Nebraska; one long-term carefacility located in Omaha; one ambulatory service facility at Lakeside inOmaha; minority owner of community hospital in Blair; home care programsserving the region; multiple metropolitan and rural health careclinics/offices; major programmatic initiatives in managed care, physicalmedicine and rehabilitation, behavioral health, senior services, cardiovascularservices, orthopaedics, women's and children's services, and oncology; andjoint ventures with community partners in pediatrics and hospice.


NATUREAND SCOPE:


Theincumbent reports to the Chief Nurse Executive/OD-Clinical Services with matrixreporting to the campus Administrator for day to day operational issues. The incumbent works collaboratively withAlegent Health leadership to achieve goals and objectives.


This rolecan only be fulfilled through a collaborative working relationship with eachmember of the management team. Theincumbent works collaboratively with nursing and medical staff, agencies andpayers to carry out the goals and objectives for the defined servicepopulation. A key role of this positionis to build strong relationships with physicians and employees for AlegentHealth and to achieve high levels of patient and customer satisfaction.


TEAMLEAD ACCOUNTABILITIES:


1. Hasthe authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conductperformance evaluations.


2. Assignsday-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical jobperformance of team members.


3. Allocatesand directs staffing needs to meet patient, unit/department and organizationalneeds and collaborates with others to ensure overall staffing needs aremet.


4. Managesperformance including:
setting goals,clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providingfeedback, recognizing performance, developing skills and addressing performanceissues related to work and our Commitments using corrective action.


FUNCTIONALACCOUNTABILITIES:


1. Provides support, interacts, and serves as a clinical resource topatient care staff. Functions as aresource for policy and procedure interpretation. Utilizes age appropriate patient careinterventions.


2. Identifies and responds to high risk/emergency situations todecrease risk exposure to patient, family members, staff, andorganization. Follows approved procedurefor notification of appropriate departments and individuals involving riskmanagement issues. Assumesadministrative responsibilities as defined by policy Events for Notification orConsultation of Nursing Management (#000.004) in the absence of Administration.


3. Provides support in determining staffing needs. Allocates float pool resources to meet shiftstaffing needs. Collaborates withOperations Directors and patient care area staff in making assignments.


4. Assures appropriate level of understanding, awareness andcompliance with all applicable JCAHO, federal, state and local agency laws, internal/externalregulations, guidelines, policies, procedures and professional standards.


5. Assumes responsibilityfor personal and professional growth through participation in meetings, in-serviceprograms, continuing education programs, and fulfills yearly requirements asstated by policy. Participates in achieving nursing division goals and supportsshared governance structure.

7. Appropriatelydelegates nursing procedures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgmentof a licensed professional and which may be safely delegated in accordance withnursing policies and procedures. Supervises the provision of care by non-licensed personnel as necessary.


8. Utilizes current evidence based practice when providing directpatient care.


9. Other duties as assigned by leader and organization.


REGULATORYREQUIREMENTS:


1. Participates in all safety, security andinfection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required andprovided by the department.


2. Demonstrateswork practices consistent with Alegent Health and department-specific safety,security and infection control policies.


3. Musthave ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse andmulti-cultural environment.

Qualifications:


Experience


Minimumof three (3) years of progressive experience in nursing with at least two (2)years in nursing leadership preferred.


Education/Licensure


Graduationfrom an approved/accredited school of nursing is required.


Aminimum of a Bachelors Degree in nursing, nursing/health care administration,or related field is preferred.


Theincumbent must hold a Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraskaand Iowa are compact states so license must be held in state of residence.


BLSor BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies andcertifications include the following:
American Red Cross:
CPR/AED forthe Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute:
CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-withAED, and American Heart Association:
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.


ACLSor ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies andcertifications include the following:

CrisisPrevention Intervention CPI required within 6 months of hire. After completionthere is an annual renewal.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


Mustpossess strong clinical nursing skills to include:
critical thinking, timemanagement, stress management, strong patient assessment skills, ability tostart difficult IVs, working knowledge of patient equipment/devices, knowledgeof high tech nursing procedures. Utilizes nursing process and problem solving skills. Demonstrates knowledge of applicable laws,regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project managementskills; excellent communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strongchange management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level ofmotivation, team orientation, professionalism, trust, and place a high value on treating others with dignity andrespect.


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
