Accurately decisions if alert becomes a case or acknowledged with details as to why it is closed.
Generates and works risk reports to track and prevent fraud.
Researches and monitors suspicious activity for online and mobile banking accounts; electronic payment functions including mobile deposits, incoming/outgoing external transfers, and electronic bill payments.
Works directly with other bank personnel in the resolution of fraud cases, including providing general step-by-step knowledge, recurring comprehensive support, positive feedback, timely consultation on alternatives and following up on results of case conclusions.
Monitors real time queues and identifies high risk transactions.
Responsible for reporting appropriate fraud suspicious activity report (SAR) documentation, presenting to SAR Committee, and filing appropriately per BSA.
Responsible for tracking alerts, fraud cases, & bank's exposure and losses.
Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of management and customers through all mediums.
Informs management and board committees appropriate details pertaining to fraud and trends.
Reads, references, interprets, and helps develop written departmental procedures and makes suggestions to correct or enhance existing processes.
Provides all business partners with appropriate tools, awareness, & training to become stewards of fraud.
Maintains current knowledge of financial products, services, and delivery methods utilized by the Bank.
Stay current with industry fraud data, statistics, and changes to local and federal law.
Assist in the oversight of a proactive Fraud Risk Management Program using data extraction, data analytics and management reporting.
Creates and maintains fraud analysis models to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Recommends new software tools used for fraud detection and prevention.
When there are issues with any of the Bank's mitigation systems, serves as the liaison between the third-party vendors and the bank.
Coordinate with colleagues in Risk Management, BSA, Cybersecurity, Internal Audit, etc.
to ensure compliance with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program.
Ownership of Bank's Red Flag Identity Theft Policy/Program.
Provide knowledge and input to bank strategic projects where risk of fraud increases due to nature of the product/service.
Experience, Education & Training Requirements Experience Needed:
Minimum 2 years banking experience with knowledge of bank products, financial transactions, deposit operations and fraud mitigation required Experience using Jack Henry Banking products, including Verafin Fraud Detection strongly preferred Education, Licensure & Certification Needed:
High School diploma required, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred Fraud Certification preferred Skills & Abilities Needed:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
