A Brief OverviewThe Clinical Educator coordinates clinical and operational education needs for all specialty clinics.
Essential Functions Assumes responsibility for the orientation of new employees to the unit.
oCreates an orientation program for each role in the unit.
oDevelops, implements, and evaluates general and clinic specific skills classes for new employees.
oCollaborates with manager to counsel/coach new employees during orientation to assist the orientee's progress towards gaining competency in unit standards/skills.
oSupports the preceptor role by:
oCollaborating with manager and preceptor to select appropriate assignments and learning experiences for new staff.
oFostering the use of adult learning strategies and critical thinking with preceptors by providing ideas, skill stations, different teaching styles, and related activities to help the preceptor be a more effective teacher.
oParticipating in the development, presentation, and evaluation of the preceptor program, in collaboration with other area educators and CNS's.
Assumes responsibility for the coordination of staff education processes through the development, implementation, and evaluation of education materials/systems.
oCollaborates with appropriate resources (i.
e.
leadership team, CNS, other educators, content experts, organization development) to analyze needs and develop, implement, evaluate and maintain education programs based on annual needs assessment, staff request, unit direction, new equipment/care practices, variance trends, and patient/parent and other customers' satisfaction.
oDesigns educational activities to reflect identified needs of the target audience and/or organizational priorities related to nursing practice.
oDesigns each educational activity to include documentation of a needs assessment, description of target audience, educational objectives, content outline, teaching methods (CHEX, self-study, presentation, real-time), evaluation strategies, and designation of appropriate resources (i.
e.
room arrangements, AV equipment, handouts, other teaching aids).
oCreates programs that incorporate adult learning strategies, ethical principles, critical thinking skills, professional growth, open communication, and collaborative relationships.
oQuality of information developed is professional with regards to organization of information, clarity of instructions, attention to details, and presentation style.
oIdentifies staff's individual talent in order to assist in their personal and professional development by:
oSharing ideas, experiences, and successful behavior patterns.
oEstablishing a relationship with the staff as a resource.
oProviding a supportive framework to guide career development.
Role models and promotes high quality professional patient care through the use of clinical educational knowledge as seen in:
oUtilizes periodic rounding as a tool in identifying educational clinical needs of staff/unit and teaches clinic staff to promote consistent delivery of patient care standards.
Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related field Required Experience Qualifications Minimum of 2 years' experience in nursing required, preferably in a pediatric setting.
Required Skills and Abilities Strong pediatric clinical nursing knowledge and background.
Knowledge and proficiency in applying the nursing process, nursing skills, and nursing research into patient care, teaching, and systems.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to include use of computer technology in program presentations and/or data analysis.
Able to be self-directed, with minimum supervision, and detail oriented.
Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritization skills.
Licenses and Certifications Current license as a registered nurse in the state of Nebraska RN/Compact license Upon Hire Required and Commits to sitting for national certification for pediatric specialty area within 1 Year Required and Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and PEARS - Peds Emergency Assessment within 180 Days Required or PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support if incumbent holds another position within Children's where PALS is required, PALS will be required in lieu of PEARS.
Incumbent holds active PALS, PALS will be accepted in lieu of PEARS until it expires, at which time PEARS will be required prior to the expiration of PALS.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
