Coordinate communication with railroad personnel to meet customer needs.
Accurately document train movement, railcar inventory and shipping schedules.
Maintain customer correspondence and record files.
Accountabilities Provide customer assistance; Respond to customer service inquiries, order requests, instructions or problems by telephone; explain technical information concerning railroad services and procedures in non-technical terms; identify customer requirements for railcar supply and coordinate efforts to meet these needs; review and update customer records; and interact professionally with customers Monitor and document train activities; Maintain records and complete all required forms concerning train arrivals, departures, deliveries, set-outs and pick-ups made; monitor, investigate and follow up on railcar inventory data; maintain regular contact with transportation personnel to assure proper handling of all materials; act upon or relay information concerning railcars to be switched, added or deleted, and track placement Perform Clerical Activities; Make notes describing work status, repairs, inspections or customer problems encountered for the benefit of coworkers; complete various forms such as work orders, requisitions, receipts, invoices and account statements; organize and maintain systematic files of forms Provide peer training Learn and recall new material and work methods Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations Logically evaluate information to determine an appropriate course of action for resolving a problem Accurately record information without errors and prepare concise documents Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Qualifications Required Proficient general office equipment skills Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills Proficient communication skills Ability to speak English in a clear, concise manner to communicate with coworker(s) and supervisor(s) Able to effectively and accurately understand, interpret, reference, evaluate, organize, and record non-technical and technical information Able to type at 35 words per minute at 85% accuracy Candidates for this position must pass a pre-employment test in English before being allowed to interview.

This job may be required to work various shifts, overtime, holidays and weekends based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement To the extent required by federal law and/or collective bargaining agreement, membership to the respective labor union is required.
The union agreement dictates the pay rate and cannot be individually negotiated.
Monthly dues are the responsibility of the employee.
