The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services seeks individuals whom are dedicated to helping people live better lives for the position of Child and Family Services Specialist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). Master's degree in Social Work or related field preferred. 1 to 2 years' experience as a LADAC with current active license, and expertise/experience in serving substance abuse disorders preferred. Salary, negotiable depending on education and experience.

Examples of Work:
Responsible for providing case management to children diagnosed with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. Assess the needs of the youth and their families, arrange, coordinate, monitor, advocate and evaluate need for multiple services. Engage youth and family in processes that move them to reach timely permanency. Using the skills and knowledge of mental health practices will assess needs and protective capacity of parents who need enhanced services to provide safety and permanency for their children. Provide guidance to families regarding problem-solving, engage and empower families to make needed changes. Conduct review of psychosocial needs and status of individuals and families using information from psychological evaluations, observations, assessments, family history and other sources, to identify needs of family members and strategies to meet those needs. Facilitate communication within the family regarding thoughts, feelings and behaviors to assist family to produce changes. Provide insight into the nature of the problems with the family and the individual members functioning.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS:Consideration will be given to applicants who will receive a Bachelor's degree within 90 days of application date. A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice or other closely related area.
PREFERRED:Master's degree in Social Work or related field. 1 to 2 years' experience as a LADAC with a current active license, and expertise/experience in serving substance abuse disorders. .
OTHER: After hire, must be certified in training, which de-escalates and manages communications and physical interactions. Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Within your state application, address how your background qualifies you for this position. Master's degree in Social Work or related field preferred. 1 to 2 years' experience as a LADAC with a current active license, and expertise/experience in serving substance abuse disorders preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
