The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Developmental Disabilities is looking for a Developmental Disabilities Surveyor Consultant. The successful candidate will be an effective team member, have strong time management skills and the ability to make complex decisions. Examples of Work:
Conduct certification reviews of Community-Based Developmental Disability Providers to evaluate the quality of services based on outcomes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities related to choice, control, relationships, community inclusion and satisfaction with services and supports. Must determine compliance with state and federal regulations and statutes; investigate complaints; and provide service reviews related to meeting the needs of persons with developmental disabilities. Examples of service areas evaluated include: habilitation, person-centered services, protection of rights, abuse/neglect, health and safety, and contract compliance. Surveyors will use protocols and interpretative guidelines to conduct service reviews, analyze the results and recommend appropriate actions based on the findings. Will travel including day or overnight trips within Nebraska that may be for multiple days within a week. May work irregular hours to accomplish assigned workload. Work may be performed in locations of varying accessibility
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIRED: Coursework or training in: special education, developmental disability programs, nursing, the social behavioral sciences including behavioral evaluation, analysis, or program assessment, speech therapy, physical therapy or occupational therapy AND experience in special education, rehabilitation, social work, developmental disabilities programs, nursing, psychology, including responsibility for direct programming or program evaluation for persons with developmental disabilities.
PREFERRED: Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in a human service field (psychology, social work, sociology, gerontology, special education, counseling, human development, health care; licensed health care professionals or a closely related field). Experience in community-based developmental disability services; experience or training in quality improvement techniques, principles, and tools.

Knowledge in current and best practice standards in the field, and applicable state/federal regulations and state statutes. The ability to conduct on-site certification reviews and investigations, collect appropriate documents and evidence, analyze information, and formulate objective, accurate conclusions. The successful applicant will possess effective communication skills, interview and investigation skills, information gathering skills, the ability to integrate, prioritize and compile information, be detail oriented and have great organizational skills, be flexible and use good judgment, operate according to professional practice, and have computer and technology skills in order to complete workload in a timely manner. Must also be dependable and responsible, working both independently and as a team member.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
